Fiber Lasers for Cutting Copper

Copper has its own niche market and not many manufactures attempt to use lasers during fabrication. Copper is highly reflective to the wavelength of conventional lasers and will damage the internal optics if used. The most common methods are water jet cutting and stamping. However, Fiber lasers are ideal for this application. With a shorter wavelength, smaller spot size and greater power density, Fiber lasers are perfect for cutting highly reflective materials.
