Opto-Mechanical Engineer
JOB DESCRIPTION
Fonon Technologies LLC continued growth has created an opening for a highly motivated Opto-Mechanical Engineer with a strong optics background. This position requires skills and experience in the design and documentation of industrial laser systems.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Create accurate, detailed designs for manufacturability.
- Work to document/CAD standards in coordination with other engineering personnel and engineering drafters.
- Ability to cost-reduce & improve existing laser system designs.
- Design & test laser systems.
- Make recommendations and participate in design reviews.
- Produce timely and accurate design projects
- Write quality system documentation
JOB REQUIREMENTS
- BS in mechanical engineering, physics or equivalent.
- Minimum of 4 years design/technical experience in laser equipment design.
- Experience designing quality optical systems for factory automation.
- Use of AutoCAD 2000 and Solid Edge is preferred.
- Knowledge of motors, motion controls and their relationship to laser machining.
- Experience with optics, lasers, controls, servos a plus.
- Proficiency with MS Office or equivalent software.
- Mechanical design using 3D tools is required; SOLIDWORKS is a plus.
- Excellent communication skills with customers, vendors and personnel.
- Familiarity with ISO quality standards.
